A Guide To SEO-Friendly Blog Writing

If you know even the basics of SEO you’ll know that on-page content is essential for successful rankings and traffic, and a key part of content writing is SEO-friendly blogs.

But despite what may seem like the easiest option – writing an SEO-friendly blog isn’t as simple as slapping words on a page and hoping for the best!

If you want your site to rank on search engines (and rank highly!) there’s certainly a right (and wrong!) way to go about creating content. We’ll dive into our top tips for creating relevant, engaging, and high-quality blog posts!

Do Your Research

We cannot stress enough the importance of thorough research before writing a blog post. Looking for credible information sources, analysing your competitors’ content, researching what your audience is searching for, and ensuring you have a clear understanding of the topic you’ll be writing about is key.

Of course, this is a lot easier if you’re already an expert in the topic, if it’s your business for example – but it always pays to fact-check and guarantee 100% accurate information.

Be Consistent With Your Brand Voice

Have you noticed we’ve kept a consistent tone of voice throughout this guide?

That’s an example of brand voice.

Put simply, your brand voice is how you want your brand to speak to its audience. Figuring out what this sounds like is essential for maintaining customer engagement and loyalty.

Think about how you’d like to be thought of – friendly, professional, informal? The list is endless, however, being consistent with it is key.

Be Smart With Headings

Headings essentially allow search engines (and readers) to learn the priority of individual sections of your content.

This tends to work in the form of H1 being the ‘most important’, then moving to H2, H3, H4 etc. Although not all of these headings will be used in every piece.

For example, the H1 in this guide is the title: A Guide To SEO-Friendly Blog Writing

The bold headings we’ve placed throughout the text are H2 headings.

Utilising headings is a great way to help structure your blog and make it not just a big lump of text!

Don’t Forget Internal Linking

Internal linking is the process of linking keywords or phrases in your blog to other parts of your site.

This can be to services you provide, or to other blog posts you’ve previously written that link in with what you’re writing about.

This essentially creates a ‘map’ for search engines to learn the structure of your site and what links to where.
